I have tried AMI and MSI utilities to upgrade/flash my BIOS.

BIOS chip on Micro-Star 845E Max mb with P4 cpu.

WIN XP Pro SP3 NTFS.

The actual BIOS chip has stamped on it: 686 AMIBIOS c1999 BK47 2321.

I have disabled Flash protection in the BIOS setup. I have booted to WIN 98 command prompt.

When I get into the Flash Utility and try to execute it tells me the utility can't do my chip.

My reason for wanting to upgrade is so I can install a 320Gb hdd and not have to partition to see all the drive.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

This is just a guess, but don't you have to use a bootable floppy to flash the bios on that old of a motherboard? I don't think you can be in Windows (which the command prompt you mention would be) to do this.
