4870 and AMD 9500

Motherboard: I don't know, what ever comes with the LX
Graphics Card: ati 4870
Ram: 8gigs
PSU: 650watts
and vista64

I am having horrible FPS, I get 20 FPS in L4D and only 70-200 FPS in CoD1, mostly stays at 100 though. I was wondering if anyone thinks there is a problem or this is just how horrible my stuff is. I got the latest drivers for my 4870, but thats the only solution that I've tried.

You could overclock the processor and video card.
Clean your computer first from spyware, trojans and viruses.

Well, the 9500 has the TLB bug, and is therefore prone to the horrible fix by Microsoft under Vista which reduces the performance of the chip by 15-20%. There is a way to disable the fix to get that performance back. The only downside is that you'll have a crash once in a blue moon (it's rare enough in server environments, which is where the problem would really surface).

You could also swap the CPU for one that doesn't have the bug.
