Hello ya'll,

I just finished building my first PC. I put all of the components together, installed the OS, and everything was working good until for a few days. I put the computer on Sleep Mode. I've tried waking up the machine, but I get no display on the monitor. I shut if off and turn it on, the machine turns on, but a few seconds later it shuts off again and powers back on. Nothing gets display on the monitor, I hear the fans going as well as the DVD Burner and ROM. All of this happened when the computer was set to Sleep Mode.

Sounds kind of like a PSU problem. What kind of PSU do you have? I'm not sure how putting it into sleep mode could cause it to kill the PSU, but that's kinda what it sounds like.

It definitely sounds like a power problem, if you have onboard video then please use that and take out any GPUs you have installed. If nothing else smell (I know it sounds odd) the PSU and if it smells similar to coffee then its burnt and dead/dying. The smell method has always gotten me great results, if you smell coffee it IS dead or dying.

i sounds like it could be 2 things

first PSU you have enough power but the unit could have died...

second i think that something could have happened to the OS when you put it in sleep and corrupted the data.

i would try a re install of the OS then start looking at the PSU

When Installe a disk..I hear it going, but nothing gets display on the monitor. I switched the video card and tested the memory, but i still get the problem. When I turn it on, I see the fans going then it shuts off and restarts, with no images on the monitor.

+1 clear the CMOS first.

If that does nothing to fix it then remove everything except 1 stick of ram, the vid card, and the processor and see if you can boot. If that doesn't work either then post back here for more instructions on what to do next
