  1. That is about the same budget I had building my system. Here is a link to my post. With the comments posted I was able to build a very nice gaming pc withing my budget.

    Hope that helps! Good luck!
  2. This build would be superior in pretty much every way to the previous post:

You didn't mention whether the OS was to be included in the budget. You can pick up 64-bit Vista to take advantage of the 4GB of RAM for $100.

Edit: You could probably knock off a little more if you shop around for the case. Newegg's prices on cases and PSU's are not the greatest.
  3. Wow, that's an amazing build for $600. Very nice work :)

Possible improvements: $17 more buys you a 650TX PSU, and $20 more buys a P5Q Pro. With these changes, you're all set to do Crossfire later and that will make your system last a lot longer. The P5Q Pro is not ideal for two HD 4850 cards, but it's only about 10% or so weaker than some ($100 more expensive) x48 motherboards.

  4. Nice suggestions aevm. If you wanted crossfire capability you could also go with the GA-EP45-DS3R and save $13 over the P5Q Pro.

I was trying really hard to get it in at budget, but these upgrades would be well worth it if you can squeeze them in.
  5. Yeah, I should have said, there's no way to get all that and Windows and still keep it under $700. Still, for $750 or so you get incredible value these days. My own PC cost $3000 last year and it's about the same speed as this build of yours (it's got an 8800GTX in there).
