I want to add a DVD/CD burner to my HTPC. My research shows that slowing down the read speed is the main way to quiet a drive during movie playback, and that not all drives allow you to adjust their read speeds out-of-the-box (can require flashing with hacked firmware).
I really want a reliable drive that allows me to adjust the speed right out of the box. I don't want to mess with the firmware.
Requirements:
- SATA
- Lightscribe
- Adjustable read speed (without modified firmware)
- under $100
I'm not interested in Blu-Ray at this time.
Any recommendations?
