Laminating an external HDD-Safe ?

I recently bought a WD Elements 320GB Portable HDD. It does not seem to have any vents, so I covered it with the plastic packaging and tape. But I'm a little worried. It's safe, right ?

Thanks for the help.

Hard drives have a breather hole to equalize internal and external pressure. It's not a good idea to cover that hole up - it's there to prevent unfiltered air from seeping into the drive around the cover gasket.

  3. Hmm, so I'll remove it from sides. As the top looks vent-less and hole-less.
