Just built a new system running Windows7 and want to know if it's possible to throw my old windowsXP hard drive in so I can transfer some of the data off. My plan would be to format the disk after I get all the info I need and use it as a back up drive for storage and such, but will the second OS cause problems on boot up?

Assuming you have a HD in there already w/ Windows 7 on it......do the following:

1. Backup your new system.
2. With puter off, install the 2nd HD into new PC.
3. Go into BIOS and check boot order....make sure the Win7 drive is first in the list.
4. Exit BIOS (save 1st if you made changes).
5. Copy what you need off old drive.
6. Format old drive.
