Erratic scrolling

Hello,
When I use the mouse scroll wheel I get a ripple effect in the database or whatever I'm scrolling. I have used two different mice and am satisfied the problem is in the settings--not the mouse itself. What settings and how to change them to make the mouse scroll smoothly. Thanks.

Try updating the mouse drivers. They can be found on the mouse manufacturer's web site.

That's usually what happens when you need to install your video driver. Go into the device manager, and see if there is a conflict (yellow !).
start-->control panel-->system-->hardware tab-->device manager
