Hi there.
this is my first post.
I'm looking to get myself a new motherboard.
I currently have an asus a8N SLI deluxe.
I want to buy an intel motherboard (either socket 775 or 1366)
The problem i'm having is that the A8N has 8 SATA ports and 2 raid controllers. I use all ports on the motherboard(4 nvraid ports in raid 1 and 4 silicon image raid ports in raid 5).

All the intel boards only seem to have 6 SATA ports an no raid 5 support

I need to find an intel motherboard with 8 SATA ports and a raid controller that supports raid 5
Please help :)

40 mobos found when I searched at newegg, 37 in stock.

My understanding is that RAID 5 should not be done with the mobo controller. (But I'm no expert.)

hmm, the problem i'm finding with the 775 motherboards is that the ones with 8 sata ports have 6 ports on 1 controller and 2 on the other controller.

Also when it comes to raid 5, is the parity algorithm the same for all raid controllers or is the parity algorithm specific to the card. I.E. will my raid 5 array on a silicon image controller continue to work if i plug it into some other raid 5 card

Apparently ICH10R only supports 6 SATA.

AFAIK you need the exact same controller for RAID setups to work.

This one looks like it only has one RAID controller.
