Will a souncard boost my fps

right now i have the 790i ultra mobo w/ onboard 7.1 audio
e8400 @ 3.0 ghz
4gb 1333 ddr3 mem


will a soundblaster x-fi pro do the job and get me more fps ?

Its true, unless you are using onbaord sound from the 90's your soundcard will never have a worry. Remember, never buy a soundcard for performance, buy it because you want its other features.
