Hey everyone. I'm looking to upgrade my video card and memory since I don't have the funds right now to build a whole new top of the line system. I already settled on RAM but with the new PCI-E 2.0 cards I'm having some difficulty finding the best card that my Asus A8N-SLI motherboard will support. I know my MB only supports PCI-E x16 and the best card I can find on newegg.com is the MSI 9800GT. Are there any cards better than this one that I can use with my MB. Nvidia's website says the 9800GT is PCI-E 2.0 but the MSI on newegg is x16....hence the confusion. I prefer Nvidia chipsets over ATI and I want at least 512MB of memory. I currently run a Asus 7800GTX. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
What is your budget? What brand and model is your PSU? A 4850 would probably be a nice upgrade. You can use PCI-e 2.0 cards in a 1.x mobo.

No price limit. I just want the best card I can get. Will the PCI-E2.0 cards still work just as good in an x16 slot? if so I'll go with the Gefore 200 series I guess.
I know its not the fastest but I think its a good upgrade from my 7800GTX...besides I'm still running a board with nforce4 chipset and an amd x2 4400 cpu. I should get good FPS with Flight Sim X and Crysis.
I doubt you`ll see anything like the full benefit of a high end card like a 9800GX2 on your rig, the CPU simply will not cope.
Newegg has both the 9800GTX and HD4850 for under 150 USD and, although I know this is n`t what you`re after, it`s really all you need.

It depends on the game. X2 4400 is fast enough to not bottleneck for Crysis as well as most games, but will definitely bottleneck FSX, which is a much more cpu intensive game.

You're pretty CPU limited there.
Crysis will see a bit of a performance and feature boost, but FSX is going to still be a pig because it's not really the GF7900GTX holding it back but the lack of a powerful CPU and a ton of memory.
The thing is, if you can only get one thing at a time, get the best you can get even if it's system limited and then upgrade the CPU/Mobo/RAM after that.
Just don't expect much for what you're paying though simply because it's pretty limiting.
Take note of Paul's recent review as well it's a mixed bag even for Crysis;
