Hello all. I am going to be building my first AMD gaming computer soon and I would like some advice. Never was good with HTML though so bear with me on the links Here's what I've got so far:
For now I'm just going to go with one graphics card and 2 sticks of RAM, later on when extra money comes up, I'm going to double them both. Crossfire the graphics cards obviously. I'm also going to throw a Western Digital Caviar 1TB for a storage drive. As far as OS goes I'm going with Vista home premium 64 bit possibly if not the 32, don't know yet on that either.
Just trying to get some ideas and I thank everyone for their input
Looks good, but Vista 64 has some issues with quads (could also be my bad luck). Blue screens "Core 2 failed to receive an interrupt request" reboot. (the reboot fixes the issue for a while, could be because I have the 9850 too)
The 6400+ will be faster in most games. The Phenom 9950 will be faster in multithreading. The question is, does your software optimized for quad cores? Most are not.
I wouldn't touch that mobo you listed with a 10-foot pole. The SB750 is the best chipset for overclocking Phenoms. Any of these is better than that.
