Well, I am, by far, no expert but from what I've read and heard from friends, it would seem that if you're going to game, most games don't recognize more than 2 cores currently so it may be beneficial to you to go with a slightly faster dual core processor rather than a quad... anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this. I am quite jealous that you'll be getting a 4870 X2 seeing as how my budget doesn't quite stretch that far and I just ordered a 4850 OC a few days ago XD. Anyway, 4GB of RAM (good RAM from Mushkin, too) should hold you over plenty, but you may want to consider getting a bigger hard drive...I have a 250GB Seagate Barracuda right now and I managed to almost fill it, not to mention the second one I have for storage and my external 500GB WD MyBook. Other than that, I say this looks like a pretty solid build to me. I wish you the best of luck throughout the building process and in the future with your new rig!

Thx alot ;)

I decided to go with the hard drive listed below. Btw do you know if the current PSU I picked out in the list is enough to power all my parts?

The Corsair 750TX is a very high quality PSU and will work fine for your build. buy.com has a great deal on them right now for $104 - $20 MIR. $84 shipped!

Thx for the info :D so everything else you saw such as the mobo and case are fine?

They look like pretty good choices. If you think you might want to add another GPU in crossfire in the future, you might consider an X38/X48 chipset motherboard so crossfire will run at full 16x speed.

The case looks pretty good. If you like the Antec 900, buy.com has it for $100 shipped right now.

I think the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 cooler and retention bracket would work a little better.

Might as well pick up some MX-2 thermal paste also since you're planning on overclocking.

Edit: Fixed the Newegg links.

Thx for the help! Btw I think im going with a e8600 instead of q6600 cpu seems it would be alot better for gaming and still last many years to come... correct me if im wrong anyone?

Reply to Matt87

The E8600 is an awesome CPU! The 10x multiplier and E0 stepping allows it to easily run 4GHz+ which should drive the 4870x2 nicely! :)

I plan to build my computer in my room which has hardwood floors. I was wondering is it worth getting a

anti-static wrist strap? I herd with out one my computer can get ruined.

Reply to Matt87

You can get a wrist strap if you want. I've never used one. You'll be fine if you remember to touch a metal part of the case before handling any of your components. If you feel more comfortable having a wrist strap it's cheap peace of mind.

I just bought that exact Samsung drive and am very happy with it. I also have a NEC/Sony drive. The Samsung is a lot quieter than the NEC drive. I had to buy the Samsung drive because I had two of the Sony drives, but one died. I highly recommend the Samsung!
