Hi all.

I'm looking to build a relatively low cost DVR. All I want it to do is record shows from cable or OTA HD and be able to play them back on my TV. I was looking at the Intel Dual Core atom w/ a mini ITX board. Here was the setup I was thinking....
What do you all think? Any suggestions?

Intel D945GCLF2 w/ 1.8 GHz Dual core atom.
2GB DDR2 667 MHz
500Gb SATA2 HD.

Those are the basics...

it could be a little problematic... this computer is going to do video encoding and that's a pretty processor intensive... I didn't get the chance to look at it but I think tom's hardware has a new article about high efficiency processing.
you should also be on the lookout for cases and quiet coolers and (I'm not sure) but I think you'll want a bigger HDD.

I would look strongly at a 780g and a cheap dual core AMD. Should be able to get a decent setup for $120ish that will easily handle anything DVR and playback related that you can throw at it.
