Delete the CD drive in device manager and restart the computer. This should rectify the problem. If not then you need to delete the upper and lower filters in the registry to do this go to
and click on the fix it button. If this does not work then you may need to do it manually, to do this follow the instructions on the Microsoft page. Note that you will need to reinstall any CD writing software after you have done this action. If still doesn’t work then you have a hardware fault, remove the CD drive from the laptop by undoing the single screw that holds it in and then refit it. It is common to have a bad connection here. If it still doesn’t work then try another CD drive.
