More about core e6600
  1. I would say go for it. Enter the BIOS, increase clock speed to say 300mhz (stock voltages should be fine for this) disable intel speedstep, and enhanced halt state (C1E) save, reboot, run prime 95 for at least 20mins to make sure it's stable and your load temps don't exceed 60C. If you dont get any errors, run prime95 again overnight. If all is well you it should be stable. I reckon you could make it run at atleast 3.0ghz, but you will need an aftermarket heat sink for this. Good luck! :D
  2. Also refer to the sticky thread on how to overclock C2D's ;)
  3. My first Core2 system used an E6600 and an eVGA 680i motherboard. It was running at 3.6 GHz.

Now, you have a commercially built PC. Those are harder to OC because the BIOS's are generally locked.
