Is there a piezo on that motherboard or did you connect a speaker? Just to make sure that it isn't shorting out to the case, remove the motherboard and put it on a non-conductive surface. If it still doesn't beep, then either the motherboard or the CPU could be defective.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had the PC speaker connected. Not sure if there is a piezo or not. I'm actually trying it outside the case right now. No luck unfortunately.
Eeek - I hate to be the one pointing this out, and it may be nothing, or I might just be blinder than usual, but
http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Suppor [...] uctID=2817 the GB CPU list for that board doesn't seem to list the 5050 - it does list some other brisbane-based G2 45W models, but not that one, that I can find... Might be worth a question to janus Yeh (GB support guy at TweakTown:

I noticed that too. Strangely, it _does_ show up if you view source for that page (I notice because it showed up in Google results, but not when reading the page). I also found a forum post by someone successfully using the same mobo/CPU combo.
Confusing. I guess you're right about checking with GB support.
Yea gods - now I've gotta start reading the source at GigaByte?!? They're just gonna have to move their ^&%$ web-site offa that old Apple IIe w/16k of RAM - today I dl'd a manual to answer something and got an 8k/s dl speed - figured the model'd be obsolete before I could read the manual...
Well, I noticed in the HTML source it is listed as "in testing". If I'd realised it was only released by AMD last quarter I would have checked before buying it. Doh! Well, if it's not supported yet, I hope a BIOS update will fix my problem. Of course, I'll have to get the cheapest supported processor I can find to update the BIOS first.
That works - I have a DS5 that was intended for a 9550 E0, but the BIOS shipped didn't support it - no one @GB was willing to say either it would or wouldn't work just to flash the BIOS, so now I keep a cheap E1400 in the box, just to pop in for the ten minutes it takes to flash - low cost insurance against bricking a board...

Thanks again for all the help everyone.
Any luck getting your mobo to post? I am having the same issue with mine, not sure if its the PSU or not.
Same MOBO w/ x2 6400 athlon, 450W raidmax PSU
