Hi.
I have an HP pavillion t3245uk desktop purchased 5 years ago.
Disk boot error has appeared asking for system disc to be inserted.
Thinking a hard disc failure, i purchased a new samsung 500gb sata hdd and installed only to find problem still same.
have since replaced sata power and data cables with new to no avail.
bios does not recognise the hdd. Have tried with original hdd still no good.
CD Rom drive and DVD RW drives are operational and have tried to reinstall OS but during set up blue screen appears with STOP error as cannot load as hdd not recognised.
With little experience of computers i am unsure how to proceed.
Do I need to get the new hdd formatted before bios will recognise it ?
Does anyone have a solution to my problem.

Do you remember the exact error message at boot up?
The previous hdd is recognized by BIOS?

No, you do not need the hard disk to be formatted in order to be recognized by BIOS.
