Get yourself a bigger, faster drive for just a few $ more. That video card may be overkill, im getting the hd4670 for just $80. As for the cpu, get a lower clocked one and simply overclock it. Get a slightly lower wattage psu for half the price. If you don't need a flashy case, you can get one for $30. As for the monitor, id get a 42" 1080p for $800-1000. Itll double as a TV and replace your 27" standard definition CRT TV.

I use an old style roll-top desk for my comp. Biggest monitor that will fit is a 24inch, maybe a very low profile 25.5 if i was lucky.
I like this setup as it "dissaperates" wt a simple pull down of the desk cover.
A better hdd might be an option.... you have a suggestion for under $100.

:wahoo:  thanks for the feedback...

The 640gb seagate looks to be a good bit of kit
I just want to stay away from the 7200.11 series. my 7200.10 250 Ide has been rock. but I want to go sata

I like the tighter timings on my ram choice

hadn't thought about an antec case. the 300 might work though.
deal wt 550 psu should get me by for a while.

my thoughts on cases.
120mm case fans, at least 3
prefer no side window
no silly door. (my desk all ready has one)
Mid tower wt good spacing between mobo and hdd rack
must not be pink or teal
