Hi, I have a perhaps tough question. Basically, I've picked all the parts for my gaming PC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaming_PC and triple checked that they work with each other, but I just want to make sure they all work together, and you guys are my best bet. Here's the rig:

General Rig:
Case: CMS 932 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811119160

Mobo: EVGA 780i http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813188024

CPU: Quad Core Q9550 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115041

GPU: Triple XFX GTX 280 XXX edition in tri-SLI http://www.tigerdirect.com/applica [...] etailspecs

RAM: GSKILL 8GB DDR2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SDRAM -800 (2x4gb sticks) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applica [...] etailspecs OR OCZ platinum 8GB DDR2-800 (4x2gb sticks) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820227291 or really any DDR2-800 sticks, haven't decided yet

Hard Drive: 1x 300GB WD Velociraptor 10k RPM HDD http://www.newegg.com/Product
/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136260

PSU: 1250w CMS REAL POWER PRO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817171029

DVD-ROM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD : Any LITE-ON 48X drive, such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6827106261

Card Reader: Do I need one of these? Whats it for? Anyway, heres a good one I found http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820223072

Other components:

CPU cooler: arctic cooling freezer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refrigerator 7 pro 92mm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835186134

Cooling System: Case cooling + as many 120mm fans as I can fit, such as these http://www.newegg.com/Product
/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16835185006

Monitor: Samsung 305T 30" monitor http://www.tigerdirect.com/applica [...] ung%20305t

Speakers: Any good quality 5.1 speaker set, such as these logitech G51 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6836121012

OS: Vista Ultimate 64-bit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6832116493

So basically, I have 2 questions:

1) Will this setup work? By work I mean, will I be able to turn it on, run it well etc with all these parts, or is there something that wont fit?

2) Have I forgotten any parts?

Thanks a bunch if you can answer this.

sorry links aren't working. Graphic card, about 4 months ago Nvidia had the best graphic cards hands down and people that wanted top performing rigs had to get Nvidia chips to run SLI. Since then ATI came out with the HD48XX series of cards and have solidly spanked Nvidia. So now high end users can go with Intel chips and crossfire for better performing rigs. Motherboards like the x38/48 or P45 which are more stable then Nvidia chips and ATI cards which are faster for cheaper.

You don't really need 8 GB of RAM, but I guess another $70 doesn't matter, looking at that setup.

Drop the AC Freezer if you don't overclock. Get a HDT-S1283 instead if you do.

Yes those parts will work together.

Drop the DVD-ROM, get a SH-S223F instead.

The card reader reads "cards", i.e. Flash memory used in digital cameras. If you don't know what cards are I'm pretty sure you don't need a card reader.
If you do have a camera, make sure you get a card reader that can use the same card format as the camera (SD, xD, etc.)

If you have that kind of budget, get some serious speakers, like Z-5500 or better, and an X-Fi sound card.

Please post some links to those.

1) I plan to overclock the CPU, nothing insane though.
2) Whats wrong with that DVD-ROM?
3) I wish, but I cant fit a sound card without getting a 790i, which would mean more $ spent on ddr3.
4) I dont have a camera atm, but should I get a card reader just in case? They're not very expensive and I might be using SD cards on my cell phone/camera with my PC someday.
5) 8GB ram is for futureproofing.

Thanks for actually being helpful

Drive is RW it BURNS

Btw, do those read/write speeds affect game performance?

Like would 48x instead of 30x or something make my games perform better?

I'll get one of those card readers just in case, extra USB and SD ports may come in handy someday esp if I get an iphone.

I dont know about media cards and RW and stuff, I know about cpus ram gpus etc...

I know I cant fit one, I was telling him.

Now does the system work or what?

No, the read/write speeds of the dvd-rw won't affect gaming. Games typically look at the dvd only at startup to check against piracy.

Yeah, the system will work very nicely.
