Hello,
I'm researching 2.5" SATA laptop drives - 5400 and 7200 and finding that it's pretty much a crap shoot. One man's great drive is another's piece of junk.
Am I supposed to just hope to be lucky that I don't get a lemon?

Is it reliability that you're worried about?

Failures get publicized, successes don't. Drives are probably a lot more reliable than you think. It's not so much "getting lucky enough" NOT to have a lemon, it's more like "being cursed" to have a lemon.

I've seen many reviews of various manufacturer's laptop drives and was surprised to see so many failed drives - there were also many satisfied customers.
It seems I have a pretty good chance of getting a lemon.
What ever happened to QC?

Ah well.
Thanks for the input
