Hi,

I have a Core 2 Duo E6600 cpu, which is meant to be running at 266MHz x 9 = 2400MHz.

However, the latest cpuz program is reporting 266 x 6 = 1600MHz!
Previous versions of cpuz reported 266 x 9.

I am very concerned that my CPU may be underclocked. I have looked in my bios and do not see anywhere to set a multiplier, and cpu settings are on default.

Could this be a bug in cpuz or is my cpu really running with a x6 multiplier?

My motherboard is a Foxconn 9657MA (P965 chipset)

Any help appreciated,

Thanks.

It is either C1E or EIST (speed step). As said, If you load the CPU it will show the proper multi. You can turn them off in BIOS, but there is no reason to unless you have an unstable OC. I usually turn off EIST and leave C1E enabled.
