Will my computer upgrade to this new CPU

Ok i got a Gateway GT5018E here are the specs

Processor- Intel® Pentium® D processor 820 (dual-core) Each core operates at 2.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB
2 × 1 MB L2 cache
64-bit processor with EM64T Technology
Chipset Intel® 945G

That is the Stock CPU the Socket type is LGA 775

And i want to put this one in

Yes I've looked my best (which isin't very good) and i found nothing that plainly said "You can now upgrade your CPU"..i've updated my BIOS and Chipset (?) with the latest they have.

better check the Gateway product support page for your system and see if they ever released a BIOS update to facilitate that dual core. you might be out of luck.

You'll have to check with Gateway on what CPUs their latest BIOS version supports. There might be a "CPU support list" or similar at their website that lists which CPUs are compatible with which MBs.
