Will there be a FX series with K10.5?

Yeah its called the Phenom II 940 black edition.

I doubt AMD will bring back the FX name until it has a chip the beats Intels top end. In the end be happy there is no FX cpus. And good cheap BE cpus. Which are exactly what the FX was. Top of the current line of cpus with unlocked multi.

I agree with someguy7, in reality BE is FX but the FX tag was/is a premium tag and therefore will only be put on the really high end chips that can give Intel hell. Sadly I don't see this happening anytime soon.

Amd doesn't have any high end chips muahahaha...
Maybe can give away all the amd chips in boxes of cracker Jack, but probably bankrupt that company so bad idea

there is said to be one. Maybe the FX 82 is a chip that will be 3.2GHz.

I agree. I doubt it will come back until we have another K8. When it beats Intel badly. Then AMD will have another $1000 dollar chip with a unlocked multi that we wont buy because its too damned expensive.

i think the BE is the FX. what would make a FX beyond an unlocked multiplier?

Beat Intel and a $1000 price tag =FX

Just like today's Intel Extreme series.

i attempted to purchase an FX a few years ago but it looked like the box needed to be big enough for me to live in once the "boss" found out. the up side to the Extreme or FX is pretty marginal considering the dramatic cost increase.

Heres a few things to consider. When AMD released the new faster P1's, it or they also came with a higher TDP, and alot of mobo couldnt past muster at that power usage. Alot of people have said Intel groups their cpus at certain TDP levels, as they fluctuate, and its a better solution for mobo matchups. Now, we see the initial TDP high at the release of P2, lowering to 95 with the AM3 versions. The power usage so far is somewhat of an unknown on these chips, and before someone says its just a simple die shrink, there are many things that can be done in tweaking to create lower power usage, but the main thing is the immersion process that didnt exist prior to P2.
AMDs process has always started lower and ended higher. nWith immersion, having this tech may have effects on how fast we/they see improvements on their revisions, in many ways. It may simply be possible to see quicker time to a revision than before, and having a truly low TDP, which we havnt seen yet lends to the possibility of a FX chip in the future
