i've never heard of novatech video cards, but the one pictured looks exactly like the palit 4850, which is a very good card. it has a better cooler than the sapphire one, which is good not only for heat, but it also gives you more overclocking potential, as well as quieter operation.

Actually you are right, but it makes a very small difference. I found setting a 4830 to 650/2000 (625/1983 is a stock 4850) allowed it make up the difference. Those stream processors do almost nothing really, just needs a slight OC over a 4850 to match it.

I bought a 4850 from the Novatech store in Cardiff yesterday, it's arriving their for pick-up today. The sales person (who really knew his stuff) I spoke to said that this particular range of cards were bought from Sapphire in the final stages of production, and simply re branded at lower price but higher profit.

Hope that helps, Bowley.

The profit earned by a sapphire product sold in a novatech shop is split between sapphire and novatech.

the profit earned by a novatech product sold in a novatech shop is split between novatech and... novatech.

As the cooling systems of the two cards are very different, I can only assume there is more potential for profit between the two products there, that novatech has exploited.
