Intel 80GB X25-M Help

I'm looking to buy the Intel 80GB X25-M to use as my OS install and probably 2 x 1.5 or 2TiB harddrives for data/games/storage and I have 3 questions.

Is this a good idea?
Which storage hard drives should I go for?
But mainly, whats the difference between the following 3 drives and which should I go for (if any):

Drive 1
Drive 2
Drive 3

Drives with black casings are the Gen 1 drives, silver casings are Gen 2. You definitely, definitely want Gen 2.

Ahh ok, thanks. Also I just found out that the differences between the 2 other drives i linked, one is 7.0mm and the other is 9.5mm. Is there any performance differences between the two or should I just go for the £10 cheaper 7mm drive?

All Intel X25-Ms are exactly the same size, so I'm not sure why they would list them separately.

Hmm, if you scroll down on the following Intel page it shows that one is 7mm thick and the other 9.5mm thick.

Damn, guess I should look stuff up more often! It also has a superscript next to where it has the 9.5mm, and it says on the footnote:

9.5mm thickness includes plastic spacer to fit snugly in most 2.5” notebook drive bays.

It's going into a 3.5" bay so I guess it doesn't matter which one I go for then. Thanks for the help with that.
