Hello,

I've recently started playing Warhammer Online, and have quickly found out that my 2 year old computer is just not cutting it. Before the stress and frustration from lag starts to affect my health, I have decided that I really need to get a new build.

I don't really do much except play the occasional online game... so something basic that can run Warhammer (and any future expansions) would be fine. I don't overclock and am not really interested in anything fancy like SLI or Crossfire.

Here's what I was looking at:

VIDEO CARD
Radeon 4850 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814102760 ($200)
CPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115017 ($190)
MOBO
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R LGA 775 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128344 ($135)
HDD
WD6400AAKS 640 GB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822136218 ($75)
MEMORY
Mushkin 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) 240-pin DDR2 800 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820146731 ($80)
PSU
PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] Tpk=s61eps ($100)

Any thoughts/opinions? :) I'm really open to suggestions... Basically I'm just looking for something decent that gives the best bang for my buck and will allow me to play at good settings. (I would also like to stay within this budget - around $800.)

I also need an Operating System, since I think the WinXP CD I have is an OEM version.

Thanks in advance!

That looks like a very nice build. Nice list.

Have fun with it.

If you plan to OC, you'll want a cooler (xigmatek suggested), but if not, it's just fine. Nice work.

Well, if you primarily want to play games, and aren't going to overclock, you may be better off going with the E8500 for the same price.

Also, I'm not too fond of your choice in PSU. I recommend going with something from Antec, FSP, Silverstone, or Corsair, like this one

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W 89.99

Otherwise good selection. I'm sure you'll be able to play Warhammer just fine.

Thanks for the replies. :)

I like that CPU too, and since I'll just be gaming with not much going on in the background, might be a better choice. If I went with the E8500, I could still use the same motherboard right? Or is there a better choice?

Also thanks for the PSU suggestion. Looks good!

Nice build, and as mentioned the Corsair might be a better choice as it has pcie 6+2 pin connectors if you ever upgrade.

the only thing I dont like is the expensive choice of 4850...that particular card although the toxic edition is way too expensive for just 512 mb...get this instead... it is cocked even higher and is cheaper ..here

You'll want a 64-bit OS since you're using 4GB of RAM. I would highly recommend this:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit English for System Builders 1pk DSP OEI DVD - OEM
