hi guys i have a gigabyte ma790x-ds4 mother board and a amd phenom II x4 940 but i now find out that the board might not boot up as the bios needs to be f6. is there anyway i can find out the bios from the board? i havent installed either yet. i also have a x5200 chip could i use that to boot the board and update bios?
The boot-up screen should indicate the BIOS version in some way. Usually it gives the month/day/year of the BIOS version, and some string of letters/numbers that includes a code for the BIOS version.

if you bought the board recently, then it should have the most recent bios on it. but usually, the only way to tell what bios version the board is running is too look on the screen at boot up.
just try to boot up the board with the phenom, just to save yourself some time, if it works, great, if not, put the x5200 chip in, and update the bios...
