You have a good AMD build going there, but you should not be building an AMD rig at that price range.

For that kind of money, you can build an Intel rig that will do much better.

I don't know your intended use for this, but I'll guess gaming. You will need to make a few changes... I'll get a list going in a sec.

Ah you are Canadian :)

P5QL-E P43 MB $130.00

E8400 $200.00

Mushkin DDR2 800Mhz 1.8V RAM 4GB

I'm showing $865.00 total before shipping and whatever they charge you up there, GST isn't it?

Try to get a retail DVD burner as it will come with software. Get a SATA not IDE.

If you have room for upgrades I could recommend a few, but that's a solid build.

Correct, purely gaming is all it'll be intended for.

I can play most games even with the crappy graphics card (call of duty 4) which is great for a poor college student like me at 500 bucks.

I updated my post. Could throw in a CPU cooler and paste there, and bump the CPU up to 3.6Ghz... that would be a screamer.

Proximon - Is Intel really better then AMD? Not sure if im ready to overclock anytime soon.

Troubl3dmind- Thanks for the suggestion, Im mostly looking into something a bit faster/better for right now, but may switch my mind later.

My bad I just put the same items in the shopping cart in newegg and it came to 314 tax included.

Yes, Intel is quite a bit faster than AMD.

The top of the line quad core Phenom is roughly the same speed as a mid-range Q6600 CPU from Intel.

The dual core AMD you listed is quite slow. I see too much difference lately in gaming with fast CPUs to recommend it.

Here is a nice CPU comparison. It's done with a very fast graphics card, so that you can see how much the CPU will hold back the various games they tested:

Get a SATA burner, not the IDE one

also try www.zipzoomfly.com for some prices you might save 40-60.00 over newegg, but newegg is faster in shipping by a day or two
