Ok so I have almost all the money I need to buy me my new pc I still cant decide. I know the q6600 is an awsome cpu and I have seen it running crysis with a gtx 260 and it runs great without even being overclocked. My pc is going to be nothing but gaming thats it. All i care about is games and running the best on it. The graphics card im buying is a 4850 x2 or a gtx 280 not sure yet. Im getting me a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard.
My question is should I buy me a e8500 and then upgrade to a better quad later on or get me a q6600 since more and more games would be takin advantage of them? by the way my monitor is going to be either a 22 or a 24inch. and yes I do plan to overclock too.

if you want the best of both worlds, and those are your only two choices, get the Q6600 and stick with it.

OC that thing to 3.3ghz+ and call it a day. it will handle anything fine at that speed for all your needs.

E8400/500 vs Q6600 is a touchy subject for people, almost like religion, but b/c you plan to get a quad sometimes in the future, the high OC speeds of the Q6600 should be more than enough and i don't think you would be disappointed with how the chip runs.
