where should multimedia hardware be installed in xp windows?

Generally, you should physically install the video card, or sound card, or whatever multimedia hardware you have. Then when XP starts it will find the new hardware - you then insert the CD that came with hardware and point XP to that and it will automatically find the drivers needed for the hardware to work.
