Fast vs storage hard drives for programs

Hello,

My question is, if I have a, lets say, a 300gig velociraptor for my main drive and a 1tb drive for storage, which drive would be best for installing new programs on?

If it's better to install programs on the velociraptor, do I just save files from those programs onto the Storage drives? Would that slow my system down bouncing back and forth between drives?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I have zero knowledge about these things.

Thank you,

~John~

Save all programs to the velociraptor.
Save your data files to the the 1 TB drive.
Better to avoid bouncing between drives.

I agree.

Use the Raptor for your OS and programs. Install Windows, Office, Photoshop, Winamp, games, etc... on this drive.
Use the 1TB drive for photos, music, videos, documents, downloads, etc...
