My PC build is as follows:

Intel Q6600 Quad 2.4ghz
P5E3 Mobo
Akasa Fan on CPU
4gb OCZ DDR3 1066mhz (memory set at 1.8v as per OCZ reccommendations)
700w Thermaltake PSU
Nvidia 280GT GFX Card
Latest bios and drivers.
Windows Vista 64Bit

Whilst playing COD4 the computer will reboot occasionally - probably once every 40mins or so. It has happened on warhammer once as well (when there was a lot of activity. Sometimes prior to the reboot the keys will stick and controls will become locked.

My motherboard can accommodate 1333mhz memory (currently there is only 1066mhz fitted) and I was wondering if this bottleneck is what is causing the system to crash regularly.

Nope.

You should download and run memtest overnight. Follow the instructions on the site to make a boot disk.

Likely culprits in order of likeliness:
RAM (includes settings issues)
MB
PSU or outlet power

I doubt very much that your PC crashes because it has 1066MHz RAM.

Agreed with Proximon. Also, what kind of temperatures are you getting for the video card? You can see those in nTunes for example. Maybe your GPU fan and case fans just can't handle all the heat. What kind of case do you have?
