hi, my name is joseph and i am a share trader, i am currently running 4 screens off 2 express slots and now have a requirement of 6 screens, so i need 3 express slots. I am about to purchase another motherboard listed above. Before I do that , I have been advised by a friend to jump on this forum to ask if I can in fact run 6 22 inch monitors for my purposes, which is share trading. I require each screen to be maximised to each invidual monitor when as I am running 6 different programs. I wanted to know if what i am trying to achieve is possible? I know these MB's are mainly designed for gaming so i wanted to know if the SLI mode can be disabled on them. If anyone can assist me that woudl be great. ALL i am doing is trying to find a good MB with 3 16x express slots in it. thank you in advance

You will not be running SLI, so you don't need an SLI motherboard (besides, nVidia's chipsets are usually much worst than Intel's - save for the IGP). Just get a cheap motherboard with 3 PCI Express slots and you should be good to go with whatever cards you choose.

Also, you could use PCI cards, for trading purposes, these should be fine (like HD 2400Pro PCI cards). Then you could save by not buying a new MB. Everything you do is in 2D, which is extremely easy for any discrete GPU on any interface.

thanks for that, greatly appreciated, i have already tried that though, and i am onto my second pci card

i currently have 2 pci exress slots, 2 asus video cards with nvidia chips

so all i had left that was unused was a slot for a pci video card

he is what happened

1. i purchased an asus nvidia pvi video card and that for my 5th and 6th monitor , something to do with its not compaitibale with current video cards as one cancels the other/ the dude at the store told me that i needed to get another pci video card only with a ati chip, and told me not to get one with a nvidia chip,

2. so i went and bought a sapphire radeon 9250 with an ati chip, and still had the same issue. What would happen is that my new pci card would work fine but the other video card that were initially in there have been disabled and i havent found a way to enable them

i called the dude again and he told me that that what i was trying to do, with the mothervboard i had, wasnt convential and that i needed to purchase a motherboard with a three 16x express slots to achieve my desired result

he said that it was hit or miss with a 3 card, being the pci video card. Its worked for some of his customers before but on others its hasnt

so it looks the only alternative is to buy another motherboard?

thanks mate - i just bought that mb and its working beautifully now

another question for you, how do i get my 6 screens to do what the monitors in the youtube video was doing

ie. having the one movie, or game playing on all 6 screens, is there a setting in my control panel ?

thanks

Windows or Linux/Ubuntu? - The video is running Ubuntu Linux 8.04 Hardy.. However I have also had this system running XP, and Vista64 - but neither performed as well as Ubuntu.. Anyway - a movie or a game, Get ahold of VLC player for windows if your running windows, it has a wall function that auto splits a full movie into 6 different screens.. As for games, its all dependent on the game.. Most games will only work with one single display. If you want to combine monitors into a single display you will need a device like Matrox's Tripple Head To Go Digital edition.

Hope that helps!
