Hey everyone im kinda new to all this but i was upgrading my dell pc and ran into a problem. My dell mobo is an intel E210882 and came with a p4 lga 775. I just purchased a q6600 quad core after calling dell support to make sure this would work. i installed the updated bios and put the new cpu in. when i tried to turn it on it checked drives as normal but the power light is yellow instead of normally green. No video works not even on board. and the diagnostic lights on the back dont come on. the ethernet seems to blink but thats about it. wondering if dell lied to me or maybe my power supply isnt big enough? any thoughts
accordin to the Intel site, this mobo is a 915g northbridge, which i am sorry to say, even with a Bios update is not compatible with Pentium D's, Core 2 Duos or Quads.
Dell Tech support is completely worthless. WORTHLESS. I just fixed a family friends laptop after they sent it to dell for warranty work because the hard drive failed. Dell sent it back saying there were no issues. well it needed an AC adapter as well and after 3 weeks when they got a replacement adapter they booted it and still failed. They called Dell and who said it was now out of warranty and offered an extended warranty package. $50 for a drive and a call to dell for the recovery disks fixed it. Plus a few bucks for me.
