I just bought a refurbished 30" Samsung monitor. It's the SyncMaster 305T plus. I plug it in and turn it on and it just goes through a color mode or something. Screen turns RED, GREEN, BLUE, WHITE, etc... Just keeps going through that. No idea what's going on. I just want to use the new monitor. Please let me know what I should do.
Thanks
I'm using a DVI cable bought from best buy along with a 8800gt 640mb card. This DVI cable came from my previous samsung monitor.
I called Samsung and the tech guy had me unplug the monitor's DVI cable and turn monitor on again. The monitor still had the same reaction with no cable as it did with my DVI cable. Is it possible that the DVI cable I have is not "Duel channel", and isn't sending the monitor any signal, so it goes through the color thing?
The guy on the phone said (and wouldnt listen to my above theory) that the cable has nothing to do with it and that the monitor has problems. I'm wondering if i should go buy another DVI cable and make sure it's duel channel. Please let me know.
So i guess I want to know.. If you try to plug in a regular DVI cable into a monitor that requires dual link DVI, will it still work, but not be able to get to the higher resolution?
PROBLEM SOLVED
It was the cable - needed a dual link DVI rather than my current single-link DVI cable. The "Tier 3 Tech" at Samsung told me there's no way possible it's the cable, but i guess he was wrong. Everything is running beautifully now. Thanks for the help.
