Hello, after a lot of pondering, I think I've settled on a system although I still have a couple weeks before purchase. I'll be using a 22-24 inch samsung monitor and this rig will be mainly gaming with some movie watching. Please comment.

I'll comment on what I know...

RAM - better off with DDR2 800, especially if you want to OC. If you run the FSB at 400, then you can run 1:1 (better)

CPU - I'd say save a few bucks and get the 9450, if you are OCing the extra Mhz difference between the 2 chips will not be seen, just wasted money.

Video card - very good choice.

regarding the 64 bit Vista, hmmm. I don't know of too many games that support 64 bit, the real benefit is to recognize over 4 gb of ram. That you have 4 gb of ram for this build seems like maybe its not necessary. 32 bit version might be a lot more compatible. (this is just personal preference to me, it's your call and shouldn't be considered a negative to your build).

Very nice build! The only suggestion I have would be to check out the WD 6400AAKS drive. It should be a little bit faster than the Seagate and is $5 cheaper per drive.

You could also get a better brand on the video card. If you can snag the Visiontek while it's in stock, it has a lifetime warranty. If you can't get that, almost any brand is better than Sapphire.

64-bit Vista is a great choice even for a gaming computer. I haven't run into any software compatibility issues with it.

I agree on the DDR2 800 RAM. It will allow you to get the Q9550 to 3.4GHz while running at a 1:1 ratio.

the seagate drives are fine, they have 32MB of cache over the WD drives with 16MB for $5 less. the c2q q9550 is worth the extra $5 also because if you're oc'ing the .5 multiplier increase is better.
