Cooler IceQ 4

Memory Clock 2200 MHz
Memory Size 512 MB

--Turbo--

Cooler IceQ 4

Core Clock 650 MHz
Memory Clock 2000 MHz

These are all 4850 HIS v.cards sporting the IceQ4 cooler. They are separated only by their clock/mem speeds and price, obviously.

Would it be possible, like 100%, for a Turbo to achieve the same clock/mem speeds as the TurboX version.

If so, that would be the best deal right?! Instead of shedding out more cash for a TurboX, all I would need is RivaTuner/AtiTool and the cheaper Turbo then TurboX is reachable.

Turbo is around $199

TurboX is around $224

What makes it so hard is that if I were to choose the TurboX, cost difference would be so close to a 4870 reference clocked card. I have read that TurboX, despite it being the fastest 4850 (besides the X2 version), will still bow down to the 4870.

So its either a Turbo then I will overclock it to TurboX. Or a 4870 but would have to spend much more than the budget I set therefore would have to wait longer :(

What are your opinions please. Thanks.

Just get the turbo, it should be easy to OC it to the x's clocks maybe higher, and heat wont be an issue as that is a really good cooler on those cards

I'm going to agree with rawsteel on this one. If you're already considering something very close to the 4870's price range, then you might as well spring out for it. Or if you don't need the HDMI features and Crossfire support, go with the 260GTX, which can sometimes be had for $200 AR.

Either way you go, it'll be better than the HD 4850, without spending to much more.

If you really don't want to spend much money, then get the 4850s in the lower price range.

I'm currently running my 4850 ASUS TOP at 715/2100 without issue. Besides, the stock on it is 680/2100 which is extremely close to the TurboX, and it comes with a very nice aftermarket fan (not dual-slot though). $130 AR

260GTX ei? I dont have an hdmi display and crossfire :D But I hear 4870 owns 260GTX ...

Ok might check for a 4870 then if its at the $220-$230 mark..EBAY

If not Im gonna stick with the Turbo...for $199 + s&h..

How many years do you think it'll last me though? I got the 8600GT Sonic+ that Im using now last year around sept. Here I am looking for a replacement. Well 8800 series was the strongest card back then..

and oh.. i see crysis warhead recommends 600+mb of graphics memory..4870 might not last that long in that case. Unless its a 1gb..but then im only running a native resolution of 1680x1050.
