I updated the link again. It's listed as being shared but it hasn't been updated on the public lists yet. So I'm not sure if it can be viewed. If not after this I'll list all the items and try it that way.

Yeah I was going to recommend that board, but only because I prefer Gigabyte. Nothing against Asus, I used one for my mom's computer three years ago and it is still going strong.

But the Asus and Gigabyte boards are different animals altogether. The Asus is Crossfire capable, while the Gigabyte is not. If you got the Asus, you could get a HD4830 now, which is cheaper than the 9800 GT you want, and then buy another 4830 later for crossfire. But if you are happy with one video card, I would go for the Gigabyte. But that is just my preference.

Also you could get the GA-EP45-DS3L and save yourself $20. Do you need Firewire? Do you need 2 more SATA?

You know what's great. I just found my CPU on Tigerdirect for 149.97. almost $20 cheaper, so now I'm looking on Tigerdirect for anything comparable yet cheaper.

This is really the wrong spot but could you explain the difference between this:

GA-EP45-DS3L
Memory Standard DDR2 1200

GA-EP45-UD3R
Memory Standard DDR2 1366+/1066

It has to do with the speed of the ram right? I'm currently using PC2-6400 MB/sec

Also, I'm looking at the two boards. Am I sacrificing anything else other than the extra HDD spots and firewire(both which I don't need)

Well, the EP45-UD3R has some pretty nice looking heatpipes coming off the Northbridge. It looks like a sweet motherboard.

In my experience, if you choose to get a cheaper component when you could have afforded something nicer, you usually regret it later. I would go with the UD3R.

I cant find the e8400 for that cheap on tigerdirect. It is OEM? IF it is, it wont have a heatsink and fan. But beware. One of the reasons that people use newegg so much is because on top of being cheap, they are pretty easy to deal with.

As for the RAM question, you are correct.

I somehow got a deal on the E8400. I checked out this morning and I paid 149.97 for it, once I got the email I clicked the link and it's showing for 169.99. Not sure how I managed it but I'm happy :)

do you think I'll need any after market fans?
