I know this has been asked many times. But I have not been getting a answer for this problem. Well I have a dell 530. I bought this in 07 around September. Here are the specs

Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo SPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz
2GB of Ram
nvidia 8300 geforce graphics card. "its broken so I am using my mother board at the moment Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family.
300 watt PS "Already found one that is 500 watts so I am gonna get that later"


Here is the problem. I found two great cards I want since my graphics card is dead. I know I will be able to run them But I dont know if I can actaully fit it in the case. It doesnt show how big the card is. Can any one help. Also can anyone tell me which is a better deal. The one with rebate or the one that is 159

here are the cards. Also if you guys can find a better caerd that I can use for my computer please post it XD. Budget is a consern but my max is 200 for a card.

You don't want either card.
For the 8800 Series, get one with 512mb of memory.
THey are faster than the 320 and 640 by a fair margin.

NVIDIA redesigned the cards but did not change the product name for no rational reason.

You may want to consider the ATI 4670.
It will be a huge leap from your old card, should work with your current PSU.

The 8800 Series cards will be a bit tight on your PSU.

Note: Please make sure you got the Dell 530 and not Dell 530s
The "S" is for Slim-Line.
Big difference in what cards will fit.

I dont have the slim. Also concerning the psu im going to get a 500 watt one. Well thanks guys but can I use pci express 2.0 ?

cards that are PCIE 2.0 are backwards compatible. in other words, yes, you can use a graphics card that is pcie 2.0 in a mobo that's not.

If you go with the HD4670 that zenmaster suggested, you won't need a new power supply, the Delta manufactured 300w that you already have would be fine. If you're getting the 500w power supply anyways then the HD4850 would be a better choice at your budget. You should also be aware that your Dell like most prebuilts has very poor cooling, download a hardware monitor and keep an eye on your temperatures.Check now and then after you put a GPU in.
Good cards for you that will fit and aid in cooling. Running from $80 after rebate to $180

Also I am very aware about the cooling and keep conditions in my room at a very cold temps also cleaning out my computer will help with the heat issue.

Aslo that last card you said do I need a 500 watt. Also for anyone that wants to know my screen is 1680 X 1050

Yes, the HD4850 will need at least a 450w power supply. A decent choice for power supply is the OCZ SteathStream at $30 after rebate with free shipping.

Antec Earthwatts 500w is also a good choice, but it's $70 right now

The only difference between that and the standard Silencer is the lack of a switch.
The only case modification needed for the standard unit to fit would be a slight bending of the metal to allow for the switch, so slight that the mounting screws would take care of it when tightened .
