4gb or 8gb?

I am building a new rig and was wondering if 8gb of memory was a waste. I am going to be running Vista HP 64. Will 8gb make a difference or should i just go with 4? Also does Vista 64 even recognize 8gb?

yes, vista will recognize 8gb of ram.

8gb will not make a difference in raw speed, but will give you increased multitasking capacity.

if you can afford 8gb, then go for 8gb.

vista 64 is supposed to recognize up to 137GB (right number?) of ram, or something like that. but you don't really need 8GB of ram, unless you have some extremely ram-intensive programs, but for games and general use, you definitely won't need 8. 4 is enough.
