the Spec of my PC is:

Q6600 @ 3Ghz and stable
4 GB DDR2 OCZ ram @900 Mhz 12-5-4-4
Asus 8800 Ultra
2 x 500 GB WD hard drives in Raid 0
1 X 500 GB
1 x 250 GB HD
DVD/CD-RW sata
1000 W (Hi power) PSU not a good brand
card reader
wifi card
tv tuner
cooler master stacker830
around 11 fans
and a fan controller

the problem is now and again normally within the first half hour of being turned on the PC will crash. then it wont restart it gets to the bios and stops, to fix it i need to disconnect some hardware like a dvd drive or summit then its fine. after another restart i can reattach it and be ok. i have stable temps and still have the problem at stock speeds.

i have tried rebuilding the PC 2 times and changing the cables around. however this stops the PC from crashing for like 2 dayst and the problem carries on.

i think it may be that the power supply is not up to the job and that i need a better make.

any suggestions, also if it is the PSU could u recomend some good PSU's around 1000W from Ebuyer as im in the UK

Many thanks

Get a good quality 600W PSU, you don't need a 1000W PSU with that build, don't waste your money, but get a good make. Aso, download and run Memtest86+. Is your memory voltage set correctly, many boards default to 1.8v, but high performance RAM often needs 2.0-2.1v.

Yeah my rams at 2.1 V had to change it manually. i know 600W would do im just thinking of future proofing as i may need more power later i expect my PSU to last me say 4 years and you never know what the future brings.

thanks for the reply

quality over quantity man! and if you are putting even more into the rig surely an investment into a real good PSU is even more important.

Blow dryers and microwave ovens use 1000W. Your PC does not need 1000W. A quality 650W unit will run your rig just fine, even if you add a second graphics card.
Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling, and OCZ are among the better brands.

also in future i will eventually upgrade to probly
6-12 gb ddr 3
Core i7 920
sutible MB
most likely the 380GTX (i know its not out but probs will be when im gonna make a new system)

my question is do u recon the PSU here is future proof for that or do i need more ?
