When i first turn my computer on it will not read the hard-drive, but when i restart it takes roughly 30 seconds to recognize my hard-drive is there and then boots up my computer.
Could this be a virus or hardware issue?
Help!
It's about 8 months old.
But, my computer runs completely fine after i get it going, if i install an anti-virus now (if it is a virus) could it remove it or no?
Ok, not like any of you guys helped me, but i figured out what the problem was, the chip that you slide the sata cable on is broken, and if you position it right it will boot, im going to be buying a new hard-drive. yay... :sarcasm:
Could be worse. The only time I've seen anything like this was on my dads machine. He first tried an Epox board, and it had random boot issue similar to what you're describing. Just before the return policy ended, he sent it back for a DFI board. No problems. If I had to guess I would guess that it was a problem with the IDE controller. That or an odd incompatibility between the drive and the mobo. Either way a new $120+ mobo was the fix. Drives are cheap.
