Hey guys,

I have a few questions about using a 4870 or 4870x2 with a 40" 1920x1080 LCD. I have been searching through as many threads and google for these answers, and am still missing some of them. One thread said that a 4870 1 gig on a 52" should be usable, but it didn't mention if it would deliver a playable experience for extensive gaming.

I was wondering how would playing on a 40" monitor change the PSU requirement, the heat generation, and the FPS (or other gaming factors)? The setup I'll be using is:

Nzxt Guardian 921 Gaming Tower Case
Corsair CMPSU-1000HX Power Supply Quad SLI Ready
Processor Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8600
Asus P5Q Pro
4 Gigs Mushkin DDR2 800 Ram
ATI Radeon HD 4870x2 DDR5 2GB PCI-Express x16
2 x Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM
Sony Dual Format/Double Layer 20X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive Black
Vista Home Premium 64-Bit
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler
Sony KDL-40XBR3

I'll be OCing the processor to ~4.0ghz. I was wondering what concerns I should have for using such a build with a 40" monitor, and would it deliver a playable experience? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

the actual dimensions of the monitor you are using shouldn't matter it is the resolutions that matters.

1920 x 1080 should be fine for a 4870 512mb or 1gb.

Get the 4870x2 if you have the money. Playable experience is different for everyone, I personally would want to see 50-60fps in all games, so that is my "playable experience". To get those frames, you want 2 4870s or 1 4870x2.

I wasn't quite sure if dimensions had any affect on it, and just wanted to be sure. I'll probably end up going 4870x2. Thanks for the help, guys.
