Disk Partition Reversed

4 partitions (1,2,3,4)were created on a 40GB Seagate on one PC with PQ Magic. On a second PC, that same drive XP Disk Manager shows the partition sequence as (1,3,4,2). Any idea why?

  1. Are they primary or logical partitions? Are you sure the partition drive letters matches the physical order of the partitions? Posting a screenshot of your partition setup would help in this case.

Lastly, is there any reason you want four partitions on a 40GB drive? With such a small drive, i recommend using only one partition as you're forcing your HDD to fragment.
  2. I don't think it really matters what order they appear as, as long as they are labeled as all being there and all data is in tact.
