Well i own a p5k and running an Asus EN9800GTX/TOP (i belive it's a 9800GTX+ as like the other brands), anyways im not satisfied with the card coz when i want to run cod4/5 at max with 4aa(or even 2aa) at my monito native resolution 1600*1050, the fps is acceptable for me coz i will feel it laggy in some occassions and i want to play it smoothly, so my question now is an upgrade of the display card, well probably i will get another nvidia coz i like it.
ATI 4870x2 it's way too hot and the drivers aint good and nvidia soon will be launching a new card to compete with it, my question is will the mobo affect the display card performance?
my whole pc specs :
Asus P5K
E8400
Dominator 4gb pack (1066)
EN9800GTX TOP
Corsair 750TX
HD (doesnt matter rite)?
please just tell me if i buy a gtx280 (or later one from nvidia) or the 4870x2 will it affect the performance?
plus is 750W PSU enuf for SLI/Crossfire the top tier cards?
thx

ATI 4870x2 is the best single card on the market. The temps can be fixed from the driver by increasing the fan speed and let me tell you as an ATI GPU user - the drivers are good!

i do agree with u, but as i think soon enuf nvidia is going launch another card to compete with 4870x2, btw wats ur temp?
and yea still does the mb affects the performance of the card?

That's a tough question. As far as the interface between the card and the board, no. It's the stuff hooked up to the board that can cause a good card to be slower, such as a CPU or RAM that can't keep up. Video cards today can't use all of the bandwidth available in a PCI-E slot.

Sorry for the late reply.... My temps are for a 4870 -> 34-38C idle and max 58C full load. For a 4870x2 with the default cooler I would expect the first GPU temps to be in the vecinity of 40 idle and 60 load and for the second a bit higher...(this with 45-50% fan speed). As leo said the things plugged in your motherboard affect the performance. Whatever you buy in the future , good luck :)
