Hey guys I was wondering if any of you know what GPU will outperform the 4870X2 (Future), do you think it will be an Nvidia GPU or ATi?

Most likely Via or Intel.

more than likely the top end cards from both manufacturers will outperform the 4870x2

Don't you mean best card, since it's x2? Anyway, there are rumors of 280gx2, which should handily outperform 4870x2. But at this point, that's all it is: rumors.

280gx2 i dont no how there going to pull that off even with the 55nm die shrink.

Sure they can, just sandwich it. :na:

Ya I head about that rumor and what invisik pointed out is true, that's gonna be a really BIG card.

No it won't. Nvidia makes sandwiches, ATI use single PCB. Just look at how much longer 4870x2 is compared to 9800gx2, which is the same length as 9800gtx.

Substitute "big" with "hot" and you've got it. :p

ya sandwich it! xD
that way we can plug in "only" 4pcie connector to power it not to mention it should be quad slot to keep it cool enough so it can function properly. Only if they could put it on one pbc which would be hard due to all the transistors.
They need to redesign the architect on there gpu; making it smaller and efficient.

People use psus with 4 pcie power connectors, and 2 slots is enough if they tune up the fan to sound like a vaccum cleaner. :na:

Speaking of which, 4 slot card sounds interesting. Instead of a "card," you'll have a "block" in your case. :na:
