blue screen of death or no start when oc'ing memory

when i set my memory to 1066mhz my computer either wont start or will come up with the blue screen of death. i've updated my bios, i have windows 7 ulimate 64 bit evaluation version, and have an asus M4A78 PLUS mobo and an amd pII x2 545 oc'ed to 3.6 ghz but after i installed the memory it wont oc at all.
