In my local Eurosat wholesalers today I saw some HDTV demo's being delivered
from the Astra satellite onto a large screen Humax LCD display.
The detail was absolutely stunning, however the wife didn't seem overly
impressed, I hope her attitude isn't typical, 'so what? - to me a TV is a
TV'... no doubt conditioned by years of watching Coro and Emmerdale on VHS!

Even if the color and brightness/contrast HDTV picture
adjustments are set properly, much of the benefit of HDTV
can be lost if the sharpness/detail control is set toward
soft.
I wonder if HDTV set users will set the sharpness/detail to
soft to try to minimize the visibility of picture "blocking"
caused by too few bits for MPEG.
