Hi fellow forum mates, i just build my rig and placed two BFG Geforce 9800GTX+ OC

I have Windows Vista Ultimate which is 32 bit i believe

I have 4GB of ram on this computer.

My forceware is 2.1.270 the October 2008 version

I don't have a ENABLE SLI button in 3D Settings but if I go into advance, i can click manage 3D setting and see that there is a feature called

Multi-Dsplay/mixed-GPU acceleration setting. Right now it's on Multiple display performance mode.

I'm not sure if this means i'm in SLI or not.

Am i suppose to see myself in SLI mode? or is it just auto enabled?

ANOTHER question...the fans of the 2 9800GTX are LOUDDDD...they are louder than my 6 case fans combined. Is there any way or program to tune down the speed?

Thanks alot guys

Okay i just realized i'm not even close to being in SLI mode.

My motherboard is a Asus P5N-D Sli motherboard

At the moment the computer doesnt read it as 2 GPU installed...only one. Help would be appreciated :)

I do not have SLI, so I cannot tell you exactly what you need to do with your software or drivers to enable SLI, but I can tell you that if you are running in multiple display mode, you are definetly not running in SLI. Multiple display means multiple monitors, you cannot use multiple monitors with SLI, so disabling that would be the first thing that I would do.

There should be a mobo option in BIOS for SLI. Make sure that is set right. Multiple display is using 2 video cards idependently, in SLI you can only use one monitor. The should be an option in Nvidia screen to enable SLI.

you can have multiple monitors in SLI with the beta drivers

but to op, make sure you remembered to attach the SLI bridge on your cards, you cant use SLI just because the mobo is an SLI mobo the cards have to be physically attached to one another with a SLI bridge. so check that and get the latest drivers from nvidia.com.

Make sure the correct drivers are installed and that the settings are enable in the drivers and or bios.

^I doubt seriously if he using the beta drivers. And if he is not, SLI will not work if he has multiple monitor support enabled. Of course there may be other reasons why his SLI is not working properly. Pointing out that you can use SLI/multiple monitor support with new beta drivers, which nVidia it's self says are still buggy, has no relevance at all to the OP's issue.

Okay my biggest problem right now is that the second PCI-express 2.0 isn't being recognized by my motherboard. What this means is, only the first 9800GTX is operational and able to be seen by my motherboard. I have the latest Forceware but it doesnt show any SLI enable options MEANING SLI isn't recognized at the moment so i need to reinstall the drivers or redo the installing of the cards. Thanks for your replies guys. I appreciate it

try booting with just 1 or 2 megs of ram, then once your SLI is going install the rest of your ram,

Check that your second card is seated properly, and you have attached the power to it. Reinstall the drivers , it will give the option to enable SLI once its installed
